KC snaps Guards win streak at seven

So much for the seven-game losing streak. The Guardians' offense failed to fire, and the Kansas City Royals got a strong start from Michael Wacha and just enough offense to beat Cleveland, 3-0, on Aug. 28
It was the 13th time this season the Guardians have been shut out, and they dropped to 31-35 at Progressive Field.
They actually loaded the bases with two outs, but pinch-hitter Angel Genoa tapped back to reliever Steven Cruz on a 2-0 pitch to end it and send 31,941 home unhappy.
Cleveland dropped to 68-67 on the season, and starter Tanner Bibee was saddled with the loss as he dropped to 5-14 on the season. He allowed just one earned run on seven hits, while striking out five and walking two. He did not surrender a home run, which has been one of his major problems in 2026. That and little to no offensive support. See this game as further evidence.
The Royals scored their lone run off Bibee in the fifth inning. Bobby Witt Jr. opened the frame with a double. He advanced on a fly out by Jac Caglianone and scored on a ground out by Salvador Perez.
One of Cleveland's best scoring chances came in the third inning. The Guardians ended up with Petey Halpin on third and Steven Kwan on first and two outs against Wacha and Chase DeLauter at the plate. DeLauter could not come through, whiffing and getting Wacha off the hook. Wacha ended up going eight innings and striking out 10 as the Royals won for the 10th time in 11 games.
Kansas City got two huge insurance runs in the top of the 9th inning when catcher Carter Jensen took Cleveland Craig Yoho out of the yard with two outs and a runnner on first to up the Kansas City lead to 3-0.
