Guards lose final of A's series

The final game of the Sacramento series was not a kind one for the Guardians. Rookie pitching sensation Parker Messick was touched up for three home runs, and the Guardians' offense could not get anything going in a May 3, 7-1 loss.

Chase DeLauter’s solo home run, his first since April 3, was the lone offense for Cleveland. Jose Ramierez was caught stealing for the first time in 2026 after swiping his first 12 bags.
Cleveland won the first two game of the weekend series, but could not complete the sweep.
Cleveland is 18-17 and in first place in the AL Central. They travel to Kansas City to begin a four-game series against the Royals tonight.
On this same day, the Cavs beat Toronto in Game 7 of their first-round NBA Eastern Conference playoff match-up.  Jarrett Allen went off for 22 points and 19 rebounds in 33 minutes. The Cavs go on to face Detroit.
Speaking of Detroit, the Tigers announced their fine pitcher Tarik Skubal is between 2 and 3 months after he had surgery on his left elbow.
