Easter Sunday: Let's play two

Ernie Banks, the Chicago Cubs Hall-of-Famer, famously loved to play baseball so much that he would say 'Let's play two," as in lets play a doubleheader.

The Guardians get their chance today on Easter 2026 when they entertain the Chicago Cubs in a doubleheader. Predicted storms for Saturday washed on their game with the Chicago Cubs on April 4 and the teams will play two today on Easter Sunday.

The weather is more like early November. The temps dropped from the 70s yesterday to the 40s today after a storm rolled through.

Cade Cecconi takes the hill for the Guardians in the first game and Parker Messick will take the bump for game 2. The Guardians are 5-3.  It is going to be cold and gray at those games.

The Yankees are off to an impressive start at 7-1. They have a plus 26 run differential (meaning they've outscored their opponents by 26 runs) while Cleveland is -4 run diff. New York nipped the Marlins on a raw, rainy night at Yankee Stadium, 9-7 on April 4, Jazz Chisholm went 0-for-5 with two whiffs. Aaron Judge went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

A crowd for 44,150 on watched it and it took three hours and 49 minutes to complete it. At 10:57 p.m., just as the Easter Vigil Mass was wrapping up at Communion of Saints church on Coventry Road, the Yanks were celebrating a win,

And in honor of Easter I finish this blog entry with the sixth word of the Seven Last Words.

"It is finished."

Happy Easter.
