DeLauter delivers big blow in Guards rally

Rookie sensation Chase DeLauter collected a bases-loaded triple to drive in three runs in a six-run eighth inning as the Guardians came from behind to beat Houston 8-5 on April 21.

Houston led 4-2, before Cleveland rallied for the win. Brayan Rocchio had an RBI single and Kyle Manzardo doubled home the two other runs in the big eighth-inning rally.

Cleveland jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a homer by Angel Martinez and an RBI single by George Velera. Parker Messick started and allowed two runs over five innings for Cleveland. It was his first start since his near no-hitter vs. Baltimore.

Cade Smith came on in the ninth and allowed a run, before striking out Jose Altuve to end the game. Peyton Pallette pitched a scoreless eighth inning and earned the win.

Cleveland improved to 14-11 with the win. The offense collected 11 hits, but was struggling until it exploded with the six-run sixth inning. On a 69 degree night, 15,448 made their way to to Progressive to see the Guardians rally. Houston is 9-16.

I again watched the game on TV. Very upset when Houston came back to take the lead. Messick couldn't handle Yordan Alvarez who had three RBI and two doubles. His two-run double in the top of the fifth inning put Houston on top 3-2. I was thinking the worst when they Guards were behind 4-2 in the 8th inning. They laid they fears to rest. Thanks to Chase DeLauter, who ended an 0-for-12 slump.

Guards are back at it today for an afternoon game. Tanner Bibee vs. Peter Lambert of Houston. What a day to go to the game.
