Guards rally late for win
The Cleveland Guardians continue to stack wins as they knocked off Detroit in 10 innings on May 20, 3-2, for their fifth straight win.
Angel Martinez, fresh off his AL Player of the Week honors, tripled home the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning, and Jose Ramirez doubled home Martinez.
Cleveland improved to 29-22 and has won eight of its last 10 games.
Tanner Bibee started and did not get a decision, but deserved the win. The right-hander went eight innings and allowed just one run on four hits. He struck out five and walked one. Bibee still doesn't have a win on the year and is 0-6.
Colin Holderman picked up the win in relief, and Cade Smith recorded his 16th save. Holderman is 2-0, and his ERA is just 1.50.
Chase DeLauter had two hits and stole the first two bases of his MLB career.
On a 56-degree night at Comerica Park 20,450 fans watched the Tigers fall to 20-30 on the year.
Cleveland trailed 1-0 after eight, but tied the game on singles by Daniel Schneeman and Travis Bazzana, a sac bunt by Steven Kwan, and an RBI ground out by catcher Patrick Bailey.
